Do you ever feel like life is swirling around you and all you can do is to grab something and hang on? I do. Especially at this time of year. It seems that before things can wind down they have to ramp up. Take MOPs, for instance. We only have 3 weeks left, but in order to finish the year we have an auction to set up for and put on this week. After that there is a brunch. For the brunch I need to find gifts for my Special Tuesday committee. After the brunch there is a brunch for all of the childcare workers. The next week is the week we clean the church. All good stuff, but a lot of it.
Or, maybe school. We have field days coming up, end of the year assemblies, plans to make for next year....
Or, How about AWANA? Books to finish and boxes to make into cars for drive-in movie night.
Taxes to file, business taxes to file and pay, houses that really don't clean themselves- no matter what any book tells you, yards to mow, gardens to weed, edges to edge...blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
So, my question is, HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU PEOPLE MANAGE TO HOLD IT ALL TOGETHER? What's the secret? How do you intentionally slow the world?
Oh, and please take a minute to pray for my sister, Trish, who has decided to get off her merry-go-round altogether.

Ummmmm, hello. I'm still on the merry go round, I just decided to push some other things off.........
Not everyone has it all together all the time. If they say they do, they are lying. I don't think it is a matter of slowing the world as much as it is that we just need to slow down. Do I really need to do this activity? What falls to the way side if I commit to this/that? Can I live with that? I think alot of us live on a wing and a prayer especially while raising kids. However, it truly should be one step at a time, one task at a time, one day at a time. This thing called life is busy...BUT...like anything else, we have to give it over to the LORD for him to handle for us one step at a time, one task at a time, one day at a time. He always works out those details and gives us peace in the process. We just need to let Him.
My life is a tornado too! Just say "there's no place like home...there's no place like home"
P.s. Some people pay other people to do all there stuff. That's how they do it!
Hi Gina, I visited Trish's blog through Kelly's blog (Serenity Cottage), and that's how I found you. I can totally relate to what you are saying. I only have four kids compared with your five, but still I have felt like life is just too busy. I liked the advice Debbie gave, and agree to it. I am going a bit slower myself.
I have three teens and a six year old. My teens don't drive yet, but one is learning. These dear children need to be at ALL these places and I am usually the driver. I'm busier now than when I had toddlers.
I couldn't do it without the Lord. I have been asking Him for wisdom, and He gives it!! We have such an awesome God. Please visit me some time when you have the time. I will pray for your sister Trish.
Hugs, Kathi
You're so right--this time of year is so, so busy. We have five more weeks of school and I don't have very many blank days on my calendar in those five weeks. It really is insane. How do I hold it together? Are you kidding?? My life is chaos right now!
Two things I do:
1. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes one hour at a time.
2. Pray...a lot.
