Why Do We Say That?

  • Why do we drive on parkways and park in driveways?
  • Why is spaghetti considered Italian food when noodles came from China and tomatoes came from The New World?
  • Why do we say that things are slower than Christmas? In my experience Christmas has always just whizzed past.
  • How come the youngest child in a family is always "The Baby" even when he/she is 33 years old?
  • Why do we call it Labor Day if no one works?

To all of you, Happy Labor Day. To most of you, "Happy Day Before Your Kids Go Back To School."

You totally have this song playing for Hot Tub Lizzy, right?

I'm 33 years old, the eldest, and still the baby. Just sayin'.

I loved these! And as a 33 year old "youngest child" in my family... you are totally right about always being "The Baby"!

Thanks for visiting again! :)

The Labor Day one gets me. How come I know what every other holiday is supposed to be about, but I don't know about this one?

I hadn't even realized that many schools still start on the traditional back-to-school date. Every school I've been a part of has started several weeks ahead of time (I've been school 3 weeks). See what you learn through the blogosphere?
