We All Want To Throw Things At Our Kids, Right?

What parent hasn't wanted to throw something at their kid every now and then?

Yesterday September was confused. It thought it was August. So we went to our favorite beach to play. We don't actually swim at our beaches- don't get the wrong idea. They are rocky and barnacle-y, and the water is cold, and we don't even take our shoes off. But we do like to use the drift wood to build forts, and to sit in the rocks and throw them into the surf. And best of all, we like to find "Angel Wings." Those are clam shells that are fully open but still connected at the hinge. Those are the things we like to do at our favorite beach.
Yesterday was no exception. Well, except that throwing rocks into the surf got boring. So I started throwing them at the kid's feet. Just little ones. Only when they weren't looking. And mostly at Caleb. Because he's fun to pester.
Pretty soon Caleb figured out it was me and made a game out of it. "Hey, Mom, throw a rock at me and I'll see if I can hit it with my sword." The child has an ever present stick that usually becomes either a sword or a light saber- depending on the mood. "Hey, Mom, try a bigger one."
"Mom! Just one at a time! You're cheating!" "Dad, try that piece of wood."
So we sat there for about a half hour hucking stuff at Caleb.
I mean, who doesn't want to throw stuff at their kids from time to time?

Hmm... rocks seem kind of small... but it's good to start little and work your way up.

Throwing stuff. AND the child likes it. It's a win-win I think.

You've given me a great idea, Gina!

And please take pictures of your beaches...'cause I've never seen nor heard of such. It makes me happy there's way too much sand on our East coast & Gulf beaches.

I was running all over the place yesterday with kids stuck in the back- had to get Ally her band book, and run dinner to my late working man.
I would've much rather been at the beach. Although Steve picked flowers for me and had them ready when we showed up with dinner!

I think little rocks are okay - especially when it becomes a game. I love the beach wish I was there. I did get to walk by a river this weekend so that was good.

Oh yeah, I'm often tempted to throw things at my kids. That's where nerf balls come in handy. :)
