Spring Beak Days 6, 7, and 8

We fled the city.

But first we cleaned the family room.  And we scrubbed every. single. bathroom.  We have 4.  This is the first time in...ever...that all the bathrooms were clean at once.  Really.  It wasn't pretty.  And I still need to get down on my hands and knees to do all the bathroom floors.  But all the fixtures are washed and the floors were swept.  They just need a little more.

We headed out to my sister Kris's house in the woods.
Where my children ran free for 2 1/2 days.  Even the 4 year old.  And I didn't worry once because her whole acre is fenced to keep dogs and small children in.  I can't even tell you how much my kids liked being in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do.  They did things like whisper in the ear of the deaf dog (in an attempt to make her hear him), cross country croquet (inventive!), play with wooden swords, take rides with Uncle Fun on dirt bikes, eat good food, play video games, play Phase 10- wait, that was me.

We also went to some second hand stores.  Because they had new junk that I had never seen because they were out of my area.  No, wait, scratch that.  there was something I had seen before.  And I found it quite humorous.  I was looking through the picture frames and I saw a piece of art my sister made.  I had to laugh because, really, what are the chances?

Anyway, we had a good visit and we got home late Saturday night.  I planned that because the drive is quiet that way, and I don't have to stop for potty!

"Being in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do..."

You just described life in my sleepy little mountain town. Please come visit. We have 18 acres...and no dogs. They can run wild as they please. And in the summer, we have lots to do--swimming, 4-wheeling, and homemade ice cream. Good times!

Ahhhh....the country life. That's how I grew up and at times think my kids are missing out big time. Loved the whispering to the deaf dog. SO funny. And now that your bathrooms are clean, want to come do mine? :)

I can't believe you found a piece of art by your sister. NO WAY!

And I sent out an updated post about the chicky bedlam.
I stepped on some toes. The only reason we had to bring them in at night was because they weren't fully feathered....my dog actually licks them and mothers them. It's actually quite precious but I guess I thought everyone would "know" me enough to understand I wouldn't really post a pic of my dog eating the chick....oops.

I love that you found a piece of art by your sister .. The only thing I've ever found at a thrift store that I recognized was a shirt my mom had donated without my knowledge.

Oh yeah .. this is Britt from Quietly Chaotic. I moved...come visit sometime! =-)

I can't imagine seeing your sister's art at a second hand store. Or something that I might have donated myself. Odd! But funny, too, I would imagine.

It sounds like after the cleaning streak ya'll had a great break. My kids are still talking about the day they "lost" cleaning out the closet!

That sounds like the perfect way for everyone to spend Spring Break! I am a fan of phase 10 myself!
