Life And Death In A Small Town

Warning! We have experienced a death at our house! Read at your own risk!

Sparkle, our friend, has finally succumbed.
The family is thoroughly bummed.
Her dad offered to bury the fish-
But this, she just didn't wish.
Good thing the house is well plumbed!

Yes, it's true. One of the goldfish died.
We have a screamer folks. A real tantrum thrower. And bed time at our house is never short- or pretty.

Abby: "Scream-scream-screamy-scream-scream!"
Have I ever mentioned that she is high maintenance?
Me:*sigh* "Abby- get your butt in bed before I beat it!"
Abby: "Blood curdling scream!"
Dad: Charging up the stairs "There better be something REALLY wrong with you!"
Abby: "MY FISH IS DEAD!!!!!!"
Crap.

Well, we all gathered around the toilet to pay our last respects to Sparkle. That was the way Abby wanted to dispose of him- or her. Yep, that's right. Let the people at the city treatment plant clean him out of the filter. Not my problem any more. Gotta go clean the fish tank out now. Haggen is giving away free goldfish in two Saturdays. Gotta be ready, you know.

My youngest keeps telling me she wants a pet. I keep reminding her we have a cat. She insists he's not a real pet because all he does is hide.

So...she says she wants a fish. And that she'll take care of it. I keep reminding her that she cannot even take care of herself. I wonder who is going to blink first.

Oh poor fishy. We've had watery graves for our fishes too. So sad, but at least they are a dime a dozen. Well, now a days, a dollar for one.

Thanks for encourging me. I enjoy your blog too. You have such cute and funny things to say. Love the little nephew pictures too. Hugs, Kathi

This reminds me of an episode on the Cosby Show when Theo had to flush his dead fish down the drain. But you were probably like in first grade when that show was on ;)

I LOVE THE COSBY SHOW! Pity to the person who had to wash dishes on Thursday night. If the dishes weren't done you couldn't wash Cosby. I don't actually remember that episode, though.

Tragic. I'm so sorry.

And hey, if it makes you feel any better, I have a Drama Queen at my house that could give Abby a run for her money.

So sorry about Sparkle. When Grahams's fishies died he didn't notice the tank was gone for days!

If it makes you feel any better I was delighted to know that I am not the only one that could win an academy award with all of the drama that goes on here at bed time. I have three girls and my oldest could rival any Hollywood actress with her theatrics. I am sorry about the fish. Luckily when Stella's life ended my girls were too young to really notice. Good luck with your search for the replacement.
