Illegal Immigrants, Health care, and the IRS

What do they have in common? Well, quite a lot, actually.
Now, before I go too deeply into this topic, I need to file my disclaimer.
**I married a man who was illegal at the time we married. We then worked within the system to straighten his status out. We were fully prepared for the moment when we may have had to pack up and go to his home. Technically, I would not have been required to, but the day my husband and I live apart is the day one of us will be lowered into the ground.
**I also realize, that despite the current trend of trampling our constitutional rights by the past and current administrations, we still live in the most prosperous, free, and desirable country on the face of the earth. I understand why people will do whatever it takes to get here. What I don't understand is why we (the system) don't enforce our immigration laws or seal our borders.

So, now you know where I am coming from....

You realize that if you have no health insurance- for what ever reason- that you will now be forced to obtain "insurance" from private or public sources.
Who is going to know? How will it be enforced? Well, that's where the IRS comes in. You will be required to show on some sort of 1040 schedule that you have paid your health care premium.
Who doesn't have to have health care? The government has written themselves out of this legislation. I have heard the Amish are exempt. And any one who does not pay taxes. Who would that be? Oh, yes, illegal immigrants. But where do illegals obtain their health care? From ER's that are forbidden to turn them away.
Who is paying? All law abiding citizens.
Who is receiving? Illegals.

Since I hate taxes, don't care much for doctors and hospitals, and abhor most politicians, I'm thinking about becoming plain.

I have to admit you lost me on your last line. Can you explain that to me?

I don't understand the mindset behind this at all. I know life can't be all black and white. There has to be shades of grey and fuzzy lines here and there but this seems like a really big fuzzy grey line to leave out.

Here our government officials admit how many illegals there are in the US by wanting/allow them to vote for their rights but they don't expect them to pay for the same rights they earned while voting? I just don't get it!

Plain is another word for Amish.
The Amish don't pay taxes, don't vote, don't see "English" doctors except in cases of life and death, and are not required to have health insurance.

The system works. Not sure why a group was given special status though. That weakens it.

I wasn't sure that I was going to like where you were headed...but plain...yep...it works for me :-)

(and I don't get why congress would exempt themselves from having to have health care since they have a fantabulous policy!)

Plain as in living on a farm with no electricity? And giving up your car for a horse and buggy? And wearing no wedding ring or any jewelry? (Even buttons are considered too decorative for the Amish). And never cutting your hair ever again, and wearing a covering over your hair (which you've braided and wrapped around your head) all the time except when your sleep?
And never be able to blog again??? :-)

I think Obamacare stinks, too, but I don't think I could go Plain in order to avoid it!

Great post! I still think the healthcare bill should have been put up to a popular vote just like the US presidency is and let ALL the people vote whether or not they liked it. Betchya it wouldn't have passed. I hate politics but I love America. And I've always teased that if I wasn't such a believer in my own religion I would totally be Amish-- and that's the Plain truth. :)

Crazy that in the land of the free we are now required to purchase something or else we will be in violation of the law! (Yeah, and it really sounds like this decision was made in the best interest of the people.)

Curious to see how many representatives will be held accountable for their votes on this during the mid -terms.

But before you go plain you had better check to see if card games are allowed. (Maybe you could sneak in a laptop & blog about the experience.)
