You Decide

Since we built our kitchen I have wanted these exact stools for my island. I told my sister, Kris, the second hand diva, and she kept her eyes open until she found them on Craig's List for the price I told her I wanted to pay. Don't they look fabulous here? Thanks, Kris.
My only problem is that they always look like this- and worse because of all the junk and gunk that gets dropped down there by my kids. It's driving me crazy to see this every time I come into my kitchen. The other problem about this particular mess is that this is the main walkway through the kitchen.
Option 2 would be to go back to the bench that my husband built while we waited for the right stools to come along. The problem with this set up is that all that junk and gunk is harder to clean because the bench is so large, and you have to move the whole thing to clean under it.
So, help me out here. What would you do if this were your dilemma?

I am a fan of the cush for my tush.

But I am not sure that I understand your issue with the stools. Is it that they have to be there at an angle? Is it hard for all the kids to sit there together?

No, the issue is that they never push them in. They don't have to be at an angle- just not int he way all the time.

Tried to keep it to myself, but I like the bench.

It would drive me crazy to walk into my kitchen and see the stools all discombobulated all the time. That's just me and my OCD. The bench is beautiful and so cozy. I would have to sit on them to make a final decision.

Stick with the stools :-)

Maybe you could make little magnetic fields lined up next to the island and then when the kids got off the stools the magnetic fields would suck them into place. :0)

I love your stools Gina. I'm not an expert, but I have been watching some really effective teachers lately. These school teachers are able to manage the kids wisely. They would say: put a piece of tape on the bottom of each stool with the child's name. Have assigned seating. Let the kids know what you expect, such as the counter must be wiped off, chair must be wiped off and pushed in (after they have swept under it). If you find it other wise they must stand at their place until the next day. Remove the stool and they get to try again tomorrow.

I do believe I have the exact same stools. Keep them. I push them in 20 times a day, but at least they look nice when they are pushed in :)
