Vanity, Vanity, All Is Vanity- And A Chasing After The Wind!

So, I may be vain. A little. OK! A lot!
Here's the thing. I have grey hair. Not a whole lot, but enough that it catches your eye when it is glistening in the sun. But I swear that every day there is a little more. And, it is really beginning to BUG me! Because I am vain.
I don't really want to color it because: A) I'm not a big "upkeep" kind of girl, and B) because I really can't afford it right now, and even if I could I would have a hard time justifying it, and C) because I really think that horizontal stripes look worse than vertical ones (See reason A).
*Sigh* What's a girl to do?

I think I'm going to leave mine alone until I can't stand it...which will likely be awhile because I don't have too much. Coloring is just so expensive and the maintenance is killer.

Let's embrace it, girl. Our crown of glory!

Ok, Trish, but 1 strip of color-crayon red is not the same as coloring the whole head to mask the grey.
Besides, the upkeep was a bummer for that intense of a color.

I am gray. Been that way since I was in high school. I can't afford to have anyone do it. And I am soooo not into upkeep. Which is why something needs to be done with it now.

I use Clairol natural instincts. I started using it when I was pregnant with Katie because it doesn't have the stank that most hair dyes have. But...you really need to reapply every month. It only takes about 15 minutes.

I tried bald. While hair is highly over-rated, I don't recomend it. Unless your going for humble cause bald and vain for me was nearly impossible!

So funny because I thought I should have added this topic to my vanity post as well. But....I do color. I am 34 and VERY silver! I am thinking "at what age will I give up?" Maybe 50.....but not 34!

Don't go for vain, go for health! Hair-coloring products, particularly brown and black colors, are associated with increased incidence of Hodgkin's lymphoma, multiple myeloma, Hodgkin's disease, and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Some products contain DEA or TEA and these ingredients often contain carcinogens.

I like Kats answer. I am going to embrace my age, but I am going to do at least this one thing; color my hair. I will also wear make-up. The rest I will grow old gracefully like Grandma. Kathi

Anyway, just a thought said...

I dye my hair and have for a while now - not because of gray's but because my natural hair color is so, what's the word, mousey. But today I did notice a gray root - if that gives you any indication as to how I do with maintenance!

I've colored my hair for a long time now-- about 15 years I guess. I buy the box in the store and do it myself. It's easy and I've never had a problem. I keep my ends trimmed-- I used to have short hair but I'm growing it out now. I color it every few months or so, except when I was pregnant with my daughter who's 9 now.

It's not expensive and there are always coupons in Sunday's paper:)
